On July 8, 2010, Lionsgate announced that the new title would be Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive.[42] Though the next day, it was confirmed by Burg and Koules that "The Traps Come Alive" was simply a tagline that had been misinterpreted as part of the title, and so the film is officially called Saw 3D. Koules said that calling it Saw VII 3D would be "cumbersome" and not have made the impact they wanted. He further explained, "It was such a process in 3D, so much hard work was put in.
